Overview

Villa Yin is hidden away at the end of a small quiet street in Canggu. Grand hand-carved antique doors lead into a spectacular traditional Balinese courtyard with raised open-sided yoga wantilan, where spiritual statues guard the gates and entrance to the property. Villa Yin is designed in a Balinese Joglo style, with Chinese influences, positioned on two terraces with two pavilions, each housing bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Celebrating traditional ethnic Balinese architecture, each room in the villa is constructed using material representing Bali’s historic ancestral past. All living enclosures, walls, partitions, and screens are either reclaimed hardwoods or bamboo latticework delightfully carved, painted, or polished.

The upper terrace showcases the entrance courtyard, yoga Shala, curtained living space, and entrance to the master bedroom in the left side pavilion. While the lower terrace accessed via stairs and a pathway, features the kitchen, dining and perfectly sized lagoon plunge pool just big enough to cool down in and with different depths allowing for a magnificent floating breakfast or afternoon tea or just chill in overlooking the river and sip a cocktail or two, the spa is just meters away and entrance to the right side pavilion with the main living room and bedrooms three and four.

Living Areas

Adjacent to the yoga shala is a canopied living room with comfy sofas, pillows, and coffee tables ideal for welcoming guests to the villa, awaiting friends for a yoga session, or to just chill in comfort with a book.

A stone walkway and staircase lead down to the lower terrace and the inviting circular shaped and perfectly placed lagoon pool to cool off in the afternoon heat, dining room, kitchen, and spa. This space is the nerve center of the villa. The dining table comfortably seats eight under the exquisitely carved ceiling. To one side, separated by garden greenery, is the fully equipped kitchen, with a six chair breakfast table, the perfect stage for cooking classes with our talented chef. Reading chairs and sofas dot the area presenting ample places to rest and relax.

The partially roofed pool offers guests both sun and shade, with four intricately carved pillars each with sendi bases standing guard, the spiritual strength of the surrounding structure. This plunge pool is where guests refresh and revitalize while overlooking palms, trees, and the river below.

The spa is set aside between the bedroom pavilions on the lower terrace, with one deep-cushioned mattress massage bed surrounded by sheer netting and an ensuite bathroom.

The living room faces over the river across papaya trees and a cute temple in the corner. A glass-topped table with 5 bar stools looks across the gardens, the perfect spot to enjoy a cleansing evening ale. More sofas and chairs offer alternative social settings next to the entrance to the third bedroom. A staircase leads up to another living space with a sofa, a repurposed boat daybed, and the fourth bedroom.

Books on Bali architecture, art, history, poetry and the Indonesian archipelago are scattered around the villa for guests enjoyment.

Dining

Our private chef prepares a complimentary breakfast to kick-start the day. The villa has an extensive menu to choose both healthy and hearty fare. Fancy learning to cook like a local? Our chef will happily share his secrets. Bali is a culinary delight, Indonesians love their spicy food, but don’t fret, chef prepares dishes to suit all guests tastes, and western dishes too. Favorite desserts are often created from fresh fruit, rice, coconut, palm sugar, many in the form of rice puddings, dumplings, pancakes, mochi, and cakes.

Rather than just have these desserts at meal times, ask chef to prepare afternoon tea to satisfy any Balinese sweet and savory cravings.

The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a shower carved from a varnished tree branch, with polished roots as shelves holding the Sensatia body products.

Bedroom Four

Light breezes flow through the trees, complimenting the sounds of the river below, the pool, and village life. Guests are sure to be hypnotized into a relaxed, zen state of mind. Doors open into the bedroom, presenting a canopied queen-sized bed and writing desk. Dark green antique doors enter into the ensuite bathroom.

Yoga and Spa

The open sided wantilan inspired yoga shala greets guests as they enter the property. Ample space allows 8 people to practice or meditate. Specialist instructors are on call: yoga, Pilates mat, meditation, and stretching, all surrounded by white sheer netting curtains that flutter in the wind.

One deep cushioned spa bed rests between the two pavilions on the lower terrace, surrounded by sheer canopied curtains, with an ensuite shower and lavatory.

Staffing

The villa is serviced by an excellent team. Guests are welcomed by our experienced villa manager, a veritable treasure trove of information, assisted by two butlers, a housekeeper, and a private chef. Our villa manager can assist with arranging tours, booking restaurants, fixing problems, translating, or providing insights into Canggu and its neighboring provinces. At the same time, the butlers offer a turn-down and table service, staying late to ensure the villa is kept immaculate. Our chef will prepare breakfast, and anything guests wish from the extensive menu. The villa shares gardeners and pool attendants, who pop in to ensure all areas work well and look trim.

Villa Yin is near Jalan Raya Canggu, the main access road to popular hot spots of Berawa, BatuBolong, and Pererenan. Further along Raya Canggu is a massive Pepito supermarket that stocks everything. Surrounding the villa are paddy fields and quaint villages, offering guests the quintessential Bali experience, a tranquil oasis away from the crowds.
